Question from the audience: “In some cultures people believe that photographers can see your soul. Do you think that there’s a pinch of truth in that?”
Annie Leibovitz: “Well, you know, photographers have a soul, too and that’s the answer to this question.”
When soccer players are asked to comment on the victory or defeat of a match, the most unnecessary situations arise. Surprisingly we are so much used to standard phrases like “The teamwork was really good today, so we won” that we don’t even realize the lack of meaning. Why is it not enough to watch a soccer game and take it for real, finite and done. Why are masters of a certain discipline put in the spot to prove sense of their achievements in their own words? Or in other words: what was that Annie Leibovitz lecture about?

A great queer movie that I saw a couple of weeks ago was the French film “Water lilies” (orig. Naissance Des Pieuvres). J’ai trouvé que c’était un film assez bizarre et avec deux actrice vachement talentées … pourtant une histoire pas trop dévelopée, mais bon. Voici la bande annoncé:

Was haben all diese Frauen -neben einer seltsamen Frisur- gemeinsam?
Nun, sie haben alle naturwissenschaftliche Geschichte geschrieben und sie sind ab morgen “Teile einer Ausstellung”. (Wer mir jetzt auf Anhieb sagen kann wer die abgebildeten Persönlichkeiten sind und was sie auszeichnet, bekommt ein Drei-Gänge-Menü nach Wahl gekocht. Jawohl!)
Am Freitag den 05. September öffnet im Kölner Frauenmediaturm (FMT) eine Ausstellung mit dem klangvollen, innovativen sowie subtilen Namen “Frauen, die forschen“. Mit dabei ist natürlich neben der wiedergeborenen EMMA Chefredakteurin Alice Schwarzer pro aeternitas, auch Dr. Annette Schavan, Ministerin für Bildung und Forschung. Mit einem Fokus auf forschenden Frauen in den Naturwissenschaften wird einer Randgruppe, die eigentlich keine ist, erstmalig eine Plattform konzentrierter Aufmerksamkeit eingeräumt. Schlaglichter auf “die wenigen mathematischen Sternstunden des weiblichen Geschlechts” liefen bereits in Form von “Sonderdokus” auf diversen Privatsendern… . Wie auch immer, rund 100 Exponate soll es geben und wir sind natürlich schon sehr gespannt.

Angefangen bei Hildegard von Bingen geht es also über Marie Curie bis zu Rosalind Franklin. Die begleitende Symposiumsveranstaltung wird von der geballten weiblichen Kompetenz der Neuzeit unterstützt: Eine lebendig-referierende Prof. Dr. Miriam Meckel vom Institut für Medien- und Kommunikationsmanagement der Universität St. Gallen (die selbe Universität übrigens, für die ein deutscher FH-Masterabschluss -Bologna sei ihm gnädig- soviel gilt wie eine “Matura”, zu Deutsch: ein Abitur) ist zum Beispiel für den Samstagnachmittag geladen.
Die Eröffnungsvorträge laufen jeweils von Freitag bis Sonntag zwischen 16:00 Uhr und 17:30. Vielleicht gehen wir ja hin. Oder schauen auf dem Rückweg von der Messe vorbei.
